A person deciding to start Body Building one must involve in increased physical and medical check up, before making a beginning for body building. This not to dampen the spirit, it is based on sound reason.

This shall further assure that one’s body systems are working in a perfect order. In case the medical investigation reveal that kidney function is not normal, one shall not be in a position to achieve desired body build up and at the same time it shall prove dangerous because consuming of excessive protein in kidney disease is not advised.

One needs good health of heart, kidney and liver for achieving success in body building. In a situation of any system not performing well, body building decision can be very dangerous for health of the person. Following are the details of investigations to be carried out:

  • For checking Cardio Vascular activity one requires to undergo Total Cholesterol, LDL / HDL, Triglycerides, C-reactive protein, homocysteine blood levels.
  • For checking level of activity of Liver one needs to get alkaline phosphate, GGT, SGOT, SGPT investigations.
  • The kidney health can be determined by getting investigated creatinine, BUN and creatinine / BUN ratio.
  • In case of males the prostate function can be investigated by PSA test.

The activity of body building involves losing fat along with gaining of muscle, whereas some persons just want to gain bulk, which just means taking more food and involve in heavier training so that there is muscular weight. Such gain in muscular weight has following reasons for doing so:

  • The person going for body building has a higher metabolic rate and is in need of a plan ensuring only muscular gain and is termed as a hard gainer.
  • For the requirement of a person, who plays football certain weight is required.
  • More specifically the body builder wants just increase the weight to move to the next weight category for competing in the higher weight class category.
