One of the main issues in the optimal management of stroke is a race against time. A term known as ‘time is brain’. The main goal of stroke treatment is to save the brain tissue suffering from lack of nutrients and oxygen supply. The deadline for the optimal handling of stroke is 4.5 hours. The sooner a diagnosis and proper treatment, it will be more likely recovery.

One of the major constraints in the management of stroke patients is to delay coming to the hospital treatment. The main causes of delay in coming to the hospital are less familiar symptoms of a stroke by the public.

Association of stroke in the United States advocated the use of a simple measuring instrument for early detection of stroke. This measure is known as FAST (Face, Arm, Speech, and Tell Test). In the Indonesian language of this measure can be translated as ‘smile, motion, and talk’.

This measurement campaign is shown to improve the patient’s arrival to the hospital. This measure is used by asking the patient to smile, raised his arms, and talk. One of the disruption of the function of a smile, moving and talking should be suspected as a symptom of a stroke until proven not.
