One is busy in dental flossing, looking for a good tooth paste, but unfortunately does not ponder over:

What not to eat and what to eat in the interest of good dental health?

A few not too difficult changes in nutrition through food we eat can be a dramatic step towards good dental health. Bad food consists of sugar based preparations as well as the carbohydrates we eat. The carbohydrates are converted to simple sugars by the salivary action, which remain in oral cavity after ingestion of food, because they remain sticking to the teeth. The oral environment is favorable for bacterial proliferation and release of harmful toxic acids eroding the enamel and release of bad breath. Carbohydrates should be taken only at meal time and not as a snack. During meal time lot of saliva is excreted, which helps in easy flow of food from mouth to stomach.

After meals drinking of any of the two Black or green tea is good because of presence of poly-phenols, plant based antioxidant, which helps in  prevention of plaque formation sticking to the teeth and also is a factor in reduction of development of cavities and promote healthy gums. Tea has benefit of bad breath reduction due to inhibition of bacterial growth producing bad smell.

It has been observed that a number of teas have in them natural fluoride content, responsible for protecting tooth enamel from decay.

One should sip soda drink or juices, which contain citric acid in them, with a straw instead of just emptying the bottle in the mouth. Thus the teeth are un-necessarily not exposed to citric acid.

It is necessary to increase Vitamin C around 100 mg per day and Calcium intake around 800 mg per day to strengthen the teeth and prevention of dental diseases.
