In contrast to other forms of cancer, colorectal cancer (colon and rectum) is usually grown for many years before they spread. If detected before it spreads would be more manageable.

Colonoscopy, a screening process, may make you uncomfortable and embarrassed. But it is very effective way to detect colon cancer. Polyps that can turn into cancer also often be lifted during colonoscopy. If so ashamed, you can still try other screening methods. Begin screening at age 50, or earlier if you have a family history of colon cancer.
